Virtual Facilitation –Tips and Techniques for Volunteer Managers

Ramp up your facilitation skills for virtual orientations and trainings. Volunteer Engagement Specialist Elisa Kosarin, CVA, will share the tips and techniques she has learned and honed since the pandemic shutdown. Drawing from formal trainings she has attended and from personal experience, Elisa will cover:

·  How to warm up a group and increase their focus
·  How to facilitate conversation in a remote environment
·  How to keep participants engaged and minimize lecturing
·  How to bring breakout room takeaways back to the larger group

In addition, Elisa will share a few of the technologies that she uses to enhance the zoom facilitation experience. This session is a confidence-booster for anyone who offers remote instruction.

Elisa Kosarin consults with and trains nonprofit staff on volunteer management best practices. She has presented keynotes and workshops at multiple conferences, and has served on the faculty for the Center for Nonprofit advancement and the Catalogue for Philanthropy. Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA). Elisa also writes a popular monthly blog for volunteer managers that’s featured on her website, TwentyHats.com.
